Laurie Norman, LMHC
Laurie Norman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Indiana University and her Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. She has more than 15 years of training and experience working with children, families, and adults. She specializes in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, adoption/attachment, ADD/ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, developmental disorders, family conflict, stress management, grief/loss, as well as parent coaching, new parent concerns, and family counseling.
As a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, she offers expertise working with children from birth-12 years of age. She has more than 2,000 hours of training and supervision beyond her master's degree specifically working with children.
She also has training and experience working as an EMDR therapist. Eye Movement Desebsitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is is a powerful therapeutic method which accelerates the treatment of a wide range of clinical issues. She has training and experience working with adults on issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Because many issues relate back to early childhood, my extensive education and experience working with children enhances the therapeutic process.Through a variety of professional conferences and seminars, she continues to enhance her knowledge with regard to the latest treatment methods available. She has advanced training in sand play therapy, child parent relationship therapy, and play therapy, which are specialized therapeutic interventions for children and families, as well as EMDR and Rapid Resolution Trauma Therapy for all age groups.
Laurie is a member of the Association of Play Therapy,a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and EMDR therapist.
